New Renault Duster SUV - What Will It Be?
Nissan has recently let out its plans for India. As it will start the next phase of investments in India, two new models are currently in development. These have been codenamed P1311-R & P1312-R. The first is possibly a new 5-seater Duster while the latter shall be a 3-row version. As Renault is in a JV with Nissan, the Japanese carmaker is also working on similar platforms. These have been codenamed P1311-N & P1312-N. So, when will the new Duster come to India? Well, according to the report, Renault will possibly launch it by Diwali'25. Also, its cousin 3-row SUV will drop by mid-2026. Similar models shall also be launched by Nissan later on in India but with reworked designs and features.
The success of Renault Kiger & Nissan Magnite has revived the nosediving sales of both brands in India. The SUV market potential of India is now well accepted and understood by Renault & Nissan. Hence, new products are under work. Also, speaking of the new Duster, we suspect it will be based on a ladder-frame chassis and might also offer 4X4. However, the JV has ditched the diesel engines. Hence, we can only expect turbo petrol and hybrid petrol engine options to make way underneath the bonnet of the new Duster.

Verdict
The Renault Duster is considered to be a game changer in the compact SUV segment of India. It was loved for its robust build, strong suspension, & off-road capabilities. However, the current C-SUV segment lags behind a robust option as such the Duster itself. Hence, reintroducing a new-gen Duster will prove beneficial for Renault India for sure.
