Ola S1 Air - Design
In terms of design, the Air looks almost the same as its bigger sibling i.e. the S1 Pro. However, there are a few noticeable changes to it. As it has been designed for affordability, it gets a flat footboard. Additionally, it gets black coloured side and tail panels. It also gets a tubular pillion grab rail while the battery pack is also smaller when compared to the top-spec S1 Pro. Otherwise, the rest of the scooter is similar and gets the same dimensions and size.
Features
To keep its cost low, Ola has also revised its features list. The Air gets fewer features when compared to the top-spec S1 Pro. However, it still has the basic features that its rivals also get. A 7-inch touchscreen TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, Hill Hold Assist, & MoveOS3 are some of the highlights. Additionally, it also gets a proximity lock/unlock feature and multiple riding modes. Ola S1 Air also comes with LED lighting but the brakes on both ends are drum only.
Specifications
Ola has also fiddled with the specifications of the Air. While it is based on the S1 Pro itself, it gets a different suspension unit. Unlike the S1 Pro, it gets conventional telescopic forks at the front. The spring-type suspension at the rear is also different. Additionally, the footboard is also flat in design. Another noticeable change is the use of drum brakes. While the S1 Pro gets disc brakes, the Air gets drum on both of its ends. Due to these changes, the kerb weight of S1 Air is also less. It weighs only 99 kg which helps in increasing its riding range. It is a staggering 26 kg lighter than the S1 Pro itself.
Battery & Performance
Ola has equipped the S1 Air with a 2.5 kWh battery pack. This battery generates a peak power output of 6 hp with the help of a 4.5 kW electric motor. However, this might look less on paper but the Air does 0-40 km/h in a claimed 4.3 seconds. Additionally, the top speed of the S1 Air stands at 85 km/h. The riding range on a complete battery charge is ARAI-certified at 101 km. Hence, the cost-cutting has not affected the long-distance capabilities of the S1 brand. To charge this battery from 0-100 percent, the scooter takes a claimed time of 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Price, Colours, & Rivals
Ola launched the S1 Air at an introductory price of just Rs 79,999. However, this scheme was only for a limited time period. Ola, later on, increased its base price of it to Rs 84,999 (ex-showroom). The S1 Air is available pan India with a total of 5 colour options. These are - Red, White, Blue, Black, & Silver. Its main rivals in India are TVS iQube S & Ather 450 Plus Gen 3.
