KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Ola S1 Air 2kW and 4 kW variants discontinued
- Now only available in the 3 kW variant
- Ola S1 Pro variants slashed as well
Ola S1 Air was launched back in October 2022 at Rs. 79,999 with a 2.5 kW battery pack. To widen its customer base, Ola introduced 2 more variants of the same. Till now, 3 variants of Ola S1 Air were available- 2 kW, 3 kW, and 4 kW battery packs. But not anymore, the S1 Air is now available in just 1 variant while the other 2 are now discontinued.
Read on to find out the only variant you will be able to get your hands on.
Ola S1 Air- Now Only With 3kW Battery pack
The S1 Air now comes with only the 3 kW battery unit and the other 2 and 4 kW variants are now discontinued. This is interesting as the deliveries of the scooter are yet to commence. It was slated for launch in the first quarter of 2023, and there are still no units on the road.
As per the company officials, the variants are no longer on sale due to their low demand. The 3 kW variant saw a hike of Rs. 10,000 recently and now retails at Rs. 1,10,000 ex-showroom. Meanwhile, following similar footsteps, the S1 Pro is also now available in a single variant of 3 kW. The reason is again the sluggish demand for the 2 kW unit. So now, all customers who booked the other variants of the Ola S1 Air will have no choice but to go for this 3kWh variant.
Ola S1 Air And Pro -Details
Since the demand for the 3 kW battery pack trumped other variants, both S1 Air and S1 Pro come with only the 3 kW unit. The Ola S1 Air has a 3kWh battery with a claimed IDC range of 125 km. It has a top speed of 85kph with its motor churning 4.5kW of peak power.
For the S1 Pro, it gets a claimed range of 181 km with a top speed of 116 mph. The power rating stands at 4 kW which claims to take the scooter from 0-40 kmph in 2.9 seconds.
VERDICT- The Ola S1 Air and the Pro will be available in just a single variant is unlikely to create any major impact the new customers. Since the demand shortage stemmed from this move, the existing customers may find themselves stretching a bit to accommodate the higher or lower battery pack variant, depending on the bookings they had done.
