Ola S1 Air: Scooter Spotted Testing, Signals Impending Deliveries

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ola S1 Air spotted testing
  • Deliveries set for this month
  • Priced at Rs. 1.09 lakhs ex-showroom

In the highly competitive Electric scooters market, Ola has emerged as a clear frontrunner, establishing a dominant position with little space for rivals. Adding to its success story, the company has recently launched the Ola Air S1 electric scooter in India. This new offering aims to make electric mobility more accessible to the masses, starting at a competitive price of Rs. 1.09 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Since the deliveries are set for this month, the test mule of the same has been spotted under testing.

Ola S1 Air Test Mule As It Nears Launch

Since its launch, the deliveries always met some hurdles and it gets pushed forward. But now, it seems everything might just turn out well. The recent shots reveal a hub motor on the Ola S1 Air. This is also the most affordable Ola scooter and gets you a pretty good value for money.

Also, just recently, Ola did away with other battery packs but the 3 kWh unit. The Ola S1 Air scooters are now in a single 3 kWh unit and the bookings for other battery packs are being asked to shift to this variant. This is done as the demand for the 3 kW variant surpasses by a huge margin, courtesy of range anxiety. But that has a silver lining to it as well. What is that?? Let us explain

Details

While the S1 Air is open for bookings in a single variant. It packs quite a deal for the buyers and comes with a hub motor with a single battery option of 3 kWh. It has a max speed of 85 km/hr while claiming a range of 125 km. The motor is rated at a peak power of 4.5 kW, which is a decent figure for this scooter. Since the FAME-II subsidy is slashed, the ex-showroom prices have shot up more than before. For this reason, the Ola S1 Air is now more expensive too.

The Ola S1 Air electric scooter incorporates cost-cutting measures such as a dual-tone look with less paint on body panels, conventional suspension, and a hub motor for efficient power transmission. However, the 7-inch touchscreen makes its way from the top models, the features are toned a notch down.

Talking about the range-topping Ola S1 Pro, it comes in a single battery pack as well. It gets a 4 kWh unit that claims a range of 181 km with a top speed of 116 kmph.

Verdict

The Ola S1 Air and the Pro will be available in just a single variant is unlikely to create any major impact to the new customers. Since this move stemmed from the demand shortage , the existing customers may find themselves stretching a bit to accommodate the higher or lower battery pack variant, depending on the bookings they had done. Also, If you are someone with a passion for engines mounted on wheels, you must join our Whatsapp Group Community of petrolheads to find out more exciting stuff about the Auto world.
