Bajaj Chetak vs Ola S1: Design and Dimension
The Bajaj Chetaks iconic design will rightfully remind you of the old Chetak scooters. This scooter is built around a steel frame and gets a metal body. The design has evolved and looks contemporary and fresh. The sheet metal body panels look premium, and the LED lighting and indicators with sequential blinking add to its modernity. The official dimension figures of the electric Chetak is not available as of yet but by the looks of it, the new scooter feels compact length-wise and also sits low on the ground because of the batteries that are placed near the floorboard. The Ola S1 on the other hand has a relatively simpler design. Both variants of the Ola scooter come with a twin-pod headlight with an LED DRL ring, ring-apron mounted sleek LED taillight and a split style pillion grab rail. The Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 3.8 kW continuous electric motor, and an IP67-rated Lithium-ion battery made by Bosch. With this setup, the Chetak produces 4 kW of peak power and 16 Nm of torque. There are two driving modes - Sport and Eco, which determine the range to 85 km and 95 km, respectively. Besides, Bajaj also equips the Chetak with a clever Intelligent Battery Management System (IBMS) that controls the charge and discharge seamlessly. And lastly, the drive type is that of a hub motor. The Ola S1 on the other hand gets two types of battery capacity for its two variants. The base Standard variant gets a 2.98 kW battery, whereas the Pro model gets a 3.97 kW battery. Both have their peak power at 8.5 kW, and the torque at the motor shaft for both stands at 58 Nm. When it comes to range, the base Ola S1 can do 121 km in a single charge, whereas, the S1 Pro can do 181 km in a single charge. Being electric scooters, both are supposed to come loaded with features. With the Bajaj Chetak, the LED headlights with integrated DRLs, and turn signals with sequential blinking do make it modern. But the new fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity seals the deal for modernity with the electric Chetak. The cluster is a full LCD unit with a black and white theme. Furthermore, Bajaj has given a clever soft-open feature. This is available with the compartment and seat cover that doesnt drop in a jiffy as it used to in the old models. Instead, it comes down slowly, and the only way to shut down quickly would be by using your hands. Besides, the Chetak also gets a GPS navigation system and an additional locator that helps locate your scooter in a crowded parking space. The Ola S1 on the other hand comes loaded with features.
