Renault India, which is in the tenth year of its operations, recently announced the delivery of the 4,00,000th unit of the Kwid. First launched back in September 2015, the Renault Kwid has been a rival to the Maruti Alto and the Maruti S-Presso. It's the most affordable model in its carmaker's lineup and retails in a price range of Rs 4.11 lakh to Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Renault Kwid is available in 9 variants, including RXE, RXL and Climber trims in 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine variants. The smaller of the two motors is available only with a 5-speed manual transmission while the bigger unit is even available with an optional AMT. The Kwid's claim-to-fame is its mini-me Duster look, which, thanks to the SUV-inspired styling and a high ground clearance of 184mm, makes it a pretty attractive proposition to many.
In the last six years of its presence in the market, the Renault Kwid has seen quite a few updates, including a rather comprehensive mid-life facelift that was launched in October 2019. Also, as a part of its 10th-anniversary commemoration, the carmaker has even launched the new MY21 Kwid recently. The recently updated version complies with all the safety regulations and hence, comes equipped with dual front airbags as a standard feature across all trims. Meanwhile, the latest iteration of the Climber variant comes with a dual-tone exterior in a white-black combination along with new features like electrically-adjustable ORVM, Day-Night IRVM, etc.

Developed exclusively for the Indian market, the Renault Kwid, in the words of its carmaker, 'strongly resonates with the ideology of the Make in India program which advocates making globally competent products for India and the world by co-opting Indian expertise and skill.' Meanwhile, in more than a decade of its existence in the country, Renault has established a state-of-the-art production plant, a world-class technology centre, logistics and design centre and a wide sales & after-sales channel in the country. Currently, the carmaker has over 500 sales and 530 service outlets, including more than 250 Workshop On Wheels locations.
