Dacia Spring EV Spyshots
Though the spotted test mule was heavy on camouflage, the overall design language hints at a complete makeover. The Dacia logo is clearly visible and is placed on the bumper (below the LED DRLs). While the overall silhouette remains the same as the Kwid EV, there are some new additions too. The test mule has been spotted with wraparound taillights and black inserts in the centre. Also, the test mule had heavy plastic cladding on the wheel arches.
Dacia Spring EV: Features
The global-spec Spring EV gets features such as a 10-inch free-standing infotainment system, and a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel. Apart from this, the new-gen Kwid EV gets a complete new makeover for the cabin which includes a new AC interface with toggle switches, dual displays and USB Type-C charging ports.
Renault Kwid EV/ Dacia Spring Powertrain
The new-gen Kwid EV sources its power from a 26.8 kWh battery pack that provides a maximum driving range of 220 km on a solitary charge. It comes with two electric motor options internationally which are powered by the same battery pack. The Spring EV produces 45 bhp and 100 Nm of torque. The company provides a 7kW charger with the Sprint EV as standard that charges the battery pack from 20 per cent to 100 per cent in 11 hours. But there's also an option of a 30kW DC charger that takes 45 minutes to charge from 20-80 per cent.
Verdict
The Dacia Spring EV, essentially a new gen electric Kwid, seems poised to make a significant impact in India with its modern design and practical features like a 220 km range and quick charging options. However, its modest 45 bhp output may limit its appeal to urban commuters rather than performance enthusiasts.
