Price and Variant - Crafting The Adventure

The recently launched Himalayan comes with a strong lineup featuring three distinct versions: Base, Pass, and Summit. The entry-level variant, sporting the Kaza Brown hue, comes at a price of Rs 2.69 lakh. Moving up, the mid-range Pass variant, available in Slate Poppy Blue and Himalayan Salt colours, is priced at Rs 2.74 Lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). If you're aiming for the top tier, the Summit variant, available in Kamet White and Hanle Black, is tagged at Rs 2.79 Lakh & Rs 2.84 Lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai), respectively.

Colour And Dimension - Himalayan Horizon

Introducing a palette of five Himalayan-inspired colours: Kaza Brown, Slate Himalayan Salt, Slate Himalayan Poppy Blue, Kamet White, and Hanle Black.

The Himalayan 450 boasts dimensions of 2245mm in length, 852mm in width, and 1316mm in height, with a seat height of 825mm (adjustable to 845mm for the standard seat and 805mm for the low seat, adjustable to 825mm). In terms of weight, it has a dry weight of 181kg and a kerb weight of 196kg with 90% fuel and oil. The bike can carry a payload of 198kg with standard equipment. With a fuel capacity of 17.0 litres, a wheelbase of 1510mm, and a ground clearance of 230mm, the Himalayan 450 is a robust and well-proportioned adventure companion.

Engine - Heart of 452cc

This bike comes equipped with a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 452cc engine that packs a punch with 40.02 PS power at 8000 RPM and 40 Nm torque at 5500 RPM. It smoothly shifts gears with its 6-speed gearbox and has an 84 mm x 81.5 mm bore x stroke. Fuel injection is made easy through a 42mm throttle body and a user-friendly ride-by-wire system. The clutch operates smoothly thanks to its wet multi-plate design, which includes slip and assist features for a more comfortable and responsive ride.

Hardware - Solid Foundation

The Himalayan is designed with a strong foundation, thanks to its Type Steel and Twin Spar Tubular Frame. Up front, it's got an Upside Down Fork that offers a smooth ride with a 43mm width, allowing for a comfortable 200mm of travel. At the back, there's a Linkage Type Mono-shock that also gives you 200mm of travel.

Now, let's talk about the wheels. The front tire is a 90/90-21", while the rear one is a 140/80 R 17". When it comes to stopping power, the Himalayan is well-equipped with a Hydraulic Disc Brake at the front (320mm Ventilated Disc, Double Piston Caliper) and another at the rear (270mm Ventilated Disc, Single Piston Caliper). Plus, it's got Dual Channel ABS, which is a fancy way of saying it has a smart braking system for added safety, and you can switch it on or off as needed.
