The launch of the RE's 650 Twins marked a new beginning for the company both in the domestic as well as in the global markets. The new Royal Enfield 650 Twins are very popular in the Indian market. RE is now planning to launch official alloy wheels for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650.
The all-new Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 were first launched in India in November 2018. While the Interceptor 650 is the most affordable twin-cylinder motorcycle of India, the Continental GT 650 is the company's flagship product in the Indian market. Like most other Royal Enfield motorcycles, the 650 Twins also sport retro classic theme and these motorcycles get spoke wheels. While most of the people love the wire-spoke wheels of the 650 Twins, there are still a lot of people who love alloy wheels. There are a lot of Royal Enfield 650 Twin owners who have got after-market alloy wheels for their Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650.
As there is a lot of demand for the alloys and the RE customers have been constantly requesting the company to offer alloy wheels for the 650 Twins as an official accessory. So, Royal Enfield is finally going to launch the alloy wheels as an official accessory for the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. Recently, in response to an owner of the RE Interceptor 650, Royal Enfield said that they are currently carrying out extensive durability and validation testing of the new cast alloy wheels for the 650 Twins. The mail stated that the testing is in its final stage and if everything goes smooth as planned, the new alloy wheels could be launched around February 2021.
The new cast alloy wheels for the RE 650 Twins will be offered as an official accessory at all Royal Enfield dealerships across the country. The customers will also be able to select the same via the company's MiY or Make it Yours customisation platform which can be done by visiting the company's mobile application, official website or at the dealership. The RE 650 Twins already get tubeless radial tyres but the wheels have spokes so there is a tube inside the tubeless tyre. Once you install the alloy wheels, you can experience full tubeless experience. Both the motorcycles are powered by a BS6-compliant 648cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 47.65 PS of power at 7250 RPM and 52 Nm of peak torque at 5250 RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and gets a slipper clutch too.
