Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 Details
The displayed Scrambler bike is basically an Interceptor 650 down its flesh. However, Bikernb has done some extensive changes to it. These changes have been incorporated with the association of RE itself. The first change is the use of Ohlins USD at the front and gas-charged springs at the rear as suspension. Additionally, the ride height has been increased to tackle the Scottish highlands. This is done via the use of a 19-inch front spoked rim & a 17-inch rear spoked rim. Meanwhile, the brakes have also been upgraded to the Brembo units.
The handlebar is a flat-track race bike-styled one. This gives it an upright riding posture and hence more confidence for the rider. Additionally, the fuel tank has been moved forward to allow the rider a more standing grip. The seat is also custom-built by Tom Hurley. Additionally, it gets fixed rear luggage rack for off-road and touring purpose. The Thunderbolt LED -headlight is well-enclosed via a smart cowl. This cowl also embeds an OEM windshield taken from the Royal Enfield Himalayan bike accessory pack. These Scramblers are available in two inverted white-blue colour combos. However, these just display models. The production bike details are yet unknown.
The engine remains unchanged in these prototypes. This means that the 648cc, parallel twin from Continental GT 650 pays the duty to power it. It makes a peak power of 47 bhp & 52 Nm of peak torque. Alongside the scrambler bikes, Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has also debuted at the EICMA.
Verdict
RE is currently developing a Scrambler 650 for the global markets. It has already been spied on in India. We suspect that it will debut at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo 2023. However, its pricing shall remain north of Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
