Skoda Auto India Kickstarts Production of Kodiaq Facelift

With the advent of the facelift, the Skoda Kodiaq has ditched the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine for the 2.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine

The local subsidiary of Skoda Auto has announced the commencement of production of the refreshed Kodiaq. The Skoda Kodiaq made its debut back in 2017 and while it was sold here in limited numbers, it was quick to be lapped up by the car buying lot. Fuelled by the success of the pre-facelift version, the carmaker is now all set to bring in the updated model with a revised styling and a new powertrain.

Speaking of the new engine, the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit has replaced the earlier model's 2.0-litre turbo-diesel motor and goes on to output a maximum of 190HP along with 320Nm. The motor comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that works in tandem with 4x4 hardware. As mentioned, other than the mechanical update, the Skoda Kodiaq facelift features a revamped styling package that brings in the latest iteration of the carmaker's signature grille along with a new pair of sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs.

The revisions have led to a bolder front-end which now features fog lamps at a higher level. What's even more interesting is that the latest Kodiaq is even available in a vRS flavour that comes with attractive 20-inch dual-tone Sagittarius alloy wheels. At the rear, the taillights look a tad sleeker than before.

Inside, the refreshed model features electrically-adjustable front seats with memory function, ventilation and heating options, adjustable lumbar support and even a massage function. Also, the SUV now carries the carmaker's latest two-spoke steering wheel behind which is located a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument console. Also, the car is likely to get a new 9.2-inch touchscreen unit for the infotainment system. Other highlights of the cabin include an ambient lighting package and a panoramic sunroof.

Speaking on the start of the production of the Skoda Kodiaq facelift, Mr. Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director `KODA AUTO Volkswagen India Private Limited, said, The New KODIAQ is part of the overall SUV offensive of the Group in India. We are confident that the New KODIAQ will set benchmarks in the premium luxury segment and carry forward the momentum of our growth strategy in India.
