Skoda Kushaq And VW Taigun Score 5 Stars At The Global NCAP
  • Both Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun have scored 5 stars at the Global NCAP crash test results
  • They rival against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara
  • Both SUVs are offered with multiple safety features

Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun recently grabbed 5 stars at the Global NCAP crash test rating. Not only this but they are the only models in their segment to have achieved 5 stars for both adult as well as child occupant protection. They both rival against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

Both these cars are manufactured under the India 2.0 Strategy which projects out to make custom make cars of European quality standards to cater to the domestic as well as overseas markets. The recent results from the Global NCAP crash tests not only focus on the build quality of both these cars but also showcases India's manufacturing excellence on a global stage.

Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun are rich in safety equipment too. They both get six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control system, multi-collision braking, brake disc wiping, reverse parking sensors, rear parking camera, three-point seatbelt, adjustable headrests for all passengers, hill-hold control, roll-over protection, seat-belt reminder for front seats, speed sensing door locks, a high-speed alert system, electronic differential lock system, tyre-pressure monitoring system and more.

Under the hood, both SUVs get two engine options - 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI. The former is the most popular in the Indian market and it churns out 114 bhp of power with a peak torque of 178 Nm. It gets mated to a six-speed manual as standard and a six-speed torque converter automatic as an option.

The more powerful, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine belts out a peak power and torque of 148 bhp and 250 Nm. It gets mated to a 6-speed stick shift as standard and a 7-speed DSG as an option.

Verdict - VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq have scored 5 stars at the Global NCAP crash tests. Their competition, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos scored 3 stars only. If you're looking for a performance-based SUV with a good safety rating then you can pick either of these cars, VW Taigun or Skoda Kushaq.
