The Czech car manufacturer, Skoda, has recently launched the new Rapid BS6 in India. The 2020 Skoda Rapid got a new BS6-compliant powerplant and some new features. It instantly gained immense popularity, thanks to the aggressive pricing by the carmaker. However, upon launch, the Rapid was available with only a manual gearbox. So, Skoda is now gearing up to introduce its automatic version. Though the new Rapid and the Volkswagen Vento share powertrain, we thought of comparing these two VW Group cars. So, here we have for you a quick specification-based comparison of the upcoming Skoda Rapid Automatic vs Volkswagen Vento AT.

As we have already mentioned before, the Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid share their powertrain options. In fact, both these mid-size sedans are based on the same platform and have almost each and everything in common as they belong to the same VW Group. Talking about the engine, so both of them are powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This TSI motor churns out a healthy 110 PS of maximum power between 5000-5500 RPM and 175 Nm of peak torque between 1750-4000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
While the VW Vento Automatic is already on sale, the automatic version of the Skoda Rapid will be launched next month. Again, the engine of both these cars will be coupled to the same 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. However, there is a difference. While the Vento AT delivers 16.35 kmpl, the Rapid AT will deliver 16.24 kmpl. These are ARAI-claimed figures and actual mileage may vary as per your driving style and external conditions. Talking about the fuel-efficiency with the manual gearbox, so here the Rapid has an edge over the Vento. The Vento MT delivers 17.69 kmpl while the Rapid MT delivers 18.97 kmpl, again ARAI-claimed figures.
