Skoda has hiked the prices of their premium sedan, Slavia by Rs 60,000. This is quite a steep hike considering the Czech carmaker has axed some of the features, there's a huge waiting period because of the shortage of semiconductor chips and AC units failing. The new prices now start from Rs 10.99 lakh and go upto Rs 18.39 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

Skoda has also replaced the 10-inch touchscreen with a smaller 8.0-inch unit. Along with this, the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto function is also dismissed. They have made the changes in their premium SUV, Kushaq too. Just last month, the Kushaq also got expensive by up to Rs 70,000 for some of the variants and the carmaker also silently introduced two new variants - Active Peace and Ambition Classic. The former is now discontinued.
Skoda Slavia is powered by two engine options - 1.0L TSI and a more powerful, 1.5L TSI. The latter produces as much as 148 bhp of power with a peak torque of 250 Nm. The smaller 1.0L motor belts out 114 bhp of power on tap with a maximum torque of 178 Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and for the automatic, the 1.0L TSI is paired to a six-speed torque converter auto gearbox and the 1.5L TSI gets a 7-speed DSG.

Safety equipment on the Slavia includes multiple airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, hill hold control, traction control and more.
Skoda Slavia competes with Honda City fifth-gen, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. The Slavia is the most expensive car and most powerful in its segment. However, owners are facing multiple issues with the sedan and the waiting period for the 1.5L TSI is as long as 4 months. Skoda India has confirmed that it is working on both issues.
