In recent times, Electric Vehicles are getting really very popular in India, especially the mass-market electric two-wheelers. Now, every automobile manufacturer wants to have at least one EV in its portfolio. If we talk about the mainstream two-wheeler manufacturers in the EV space, we currently have only Bajaj and TVS with their Chetak electric and iQube respectively. But, soon Suzuki Two-wheelers is gonna join them as the upcoming Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter has been spied on test in India for the first time.
Suzuki Two-wheelers India has already expressed in the past that they will soon enter the EV space of the country. The company was even working on a Made in India electric scooter based on the Access 125. But, now it seems that Suzuki is working on the electrified version of the Burgman Street too. The test mules of the upcoming Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter has been recently spied in the Delhi-NCR region for the first time ever. Though the spied images are not very clear, they have enough details to let us know that they are not conventional petrol-powered scooters.

First of all, it can be seen that the scooter doesn't get the exhaust canister. Instead, it gets a bulky black-coloured element near the rear wheel hub which might be the driving unit of the EV. Also, the regular Burgman Street 125 gets a single-sided spring-loaded shock absorber at the rear. But, the spied test mule gets spring-loaded shock absorbers on both the sides at the rear to manage the extra weight of the electric scooter. Apart from these two add-ons, there are no other visual changes. It completely resembles the petrol-powered Burgman Street 125, save for the blue-coloured accents.
The exact specifications and other details about the Burgman Electric are scarce as of now. However, we believe it will get an electric motor coupled with a lithium-ion battery pack. It might deliver around 80 - 100 kilometres of range on a single charge and a top speed of around 80 kmph. Currently, the petrol-powered Burgman Street 125 gets a BS6-compliant 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 8.7 PS of power at 6750 RPM and 10 Nm of peak torque at 5500 RPM. It comes mated to a CVT. The Suzuki Burgman Street gets a host of features too and same will be the case with its electrified version.
