Suzuki India is soon going to introduce a new premium two-wheeler in India. The iconic Suzuki Katana semi-naked sports bike is about to launch in the coming days. The official teaser on Suzuki India's social media handles showcases the design & technical details.
Introduced back in the 1980s, Katana is a semi-naked sports motorcycle. The iconic design comprises of a rectangular LED headlight with a short cowl design. This cowl is attached to the fuel tank via large extensions. These elements are iconic as Suzuki has continued using them from the 1980s onwards.

Suzuki Katana Details
Speaking of the dimensions, it is a bike motorcycle. The riding posture is upright-set for sporty city riding. Also, the short-tail design & the naked rear end helps make Katana stand out in the crowd. The sculpted fuel tank is attached to the stell-tubular frame chassis. The seat is designed in a way that the rider enjoys an authoritative riding position.
Under the fuel tank is a 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four-cylinder engine. This engine makes out a peak power of 150 hp. As the Katana is deemed to come via the CBU route to India, the power figures will also remain the same as international models. However, the engine is already a Euro-5/BS6 compliant unit.
The image shared on the social media handle of Suzuki India is of the instrument panel of Katana. The all-digital unit comprises an 11,000 rpm limit. Along with this, the smartphone Bluetooth connectivity, gear-shift indicator, & vital engine info are also visible in this unit. Other tech specs include adjustable USD front suspension, & 7-step adjustable rear monoshock spring suspension.

This upcoming semi-naked sports bike is set up on R-17 tyres. These tyres come equipped with a dual 310mm front disc brake & a single 240mm rear disc brake setup. The Brembo brake calipers help stop the Katana at a reasonably good distance even at higher speeds.
We expect that the launch of Katana will take place in the coming days. The expected price remains between Rs 10-12 lakh (ex-showroom). Main rivals include - Kawasaki Ninja 1000, and BMW S1000 XR.
