Such that, its premium hatchback Altroz and compact SUV, Nexon are similarly priced for some variants. Here, we will compare Tata Altroz XT vs Tata Nexon XE variant and tell you which one should be your pick!

Both the cars cost Rs 6.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi but one is a premium hatchback while the other is a compact SUV. The former will give you more features but it is the latter which provides you with more space, ground clearance and a more powerful engine.

Both the cars get the 1.2L petrol engine but the Altroz gets a naturally aspirated unit which makes 84 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque while the Nexon gets a turbocharged unit with 118 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque.
Additionally, the engine of Altroz feels underpowered at higher speed while the Nexon just glides through. The hatchback also gets a 5-speed stick shift while the Nexon gets a 6-speed manual unit. Where the Nexon feels short on points is the ARAI certified economy which sticks to 17.50 km/l while the Altroz gets it higher at 19.04 km/l.

As you can see, Tata Altroz is no doubt the feature-rich when compared with the Nexon, however, you do get some things which are exclusive for the compact SUV only. Even though in a base variant. Like the projector headlights, safety features like hill hold control, ESP and traction control, an all digital instrument cluster, sunglass holder, LED taillights and more.
Where the Altroz stands out is with the touchscreen infotainment system with 6-speakers and offering modern connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the same can be done for Nexon via aftermarket shops and there you can set your budget for the same and get additional things too.

Also, the reverse camera from the outside is much cheaper than the factory fitted. A lot of people buy the base variant and opt for the aftermarket accessories since they can customize their vehicle according to their taste.

The Nexon offers more shoulder room inside the cabin and a better ground clearance when you are tackling bad roads. Nexon's 209 mm of ground clearance is better than 165 mm of the Altroz. Also, Nexon provides better fuel tank capacity of 44 litres which means you can churn out more kilometres. Another advantage is of the boot space which is 350 litres as compared to 345 litres present in the Altroz.
Verdict
The decision clearly depends on you where you are looking for, a base variant of compact SUV which you can customise according to your own needs or a mid-variant XT of Altroz where you need not to add any accessory. Both the cars offer Global NCAP rating of 5 stars so you need not worry about the safety but performance wise, the Nexon has got you covered.
