Tata Harrier Diesel automatic sales now comprise more than 50% of total sales. Such news at this point also means how crucial will the Gravitas launch be.
The Harrier, which was initially launched in 2019, had a very slow start in terms of the sales figures. Lack of an automatic gearbox option, ergonomic issues along with lots of niggles meant that the Harrier did have to face a lot of struggle in finding itself new homes.
2020 came and so did the Harrier V2. This updated version addressed all the issues that the Harrier V1 had. For the starters, a 6-speed automatic gearbox was offered with an uprated engine. Along with this all the issues that the 2019 model had were ironed. Dual-tone alloys were also introduced along with a massive panoramic sunroof.

While other features did add to the style and gimmick quotient of the Harrier, it was the automatic gearbox that turned out to be the real game-changer. While sales did take time to pick initially due to various reasons such as COVID 19 delays, now more than 50% of the Harriers sold are equipped with the automatic gearbox that has been sourced from Hyundai.
The Harrier come with the 2.0 MultiJet Diesel engine from Fiat that has been rebranded as Kryotec by Tata. In the BS4 guise, the engine produced a 138 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. With the BS6 update, the engine got uprated. It now produces 168 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. The added power means that the Harrier is now even more fun to drive.
The Tata Harrier diesel automatic sales mean that the launch of the Gravitas will have to be done properly. If Tata Motors can go all out at the time of the Gravitas launch then they would be in with a great chance to capture the 7 seater SUV market that has been suffering from stagnation due to the current vehicles on sale being outdated now.
