The inaugural crash test findings from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), conducted by the Indian government, have been disclosed, showcasing a noteworthy achievement for Tata Motors. First In India- Tata Harrier, Safari Clocks Full 5 Stars In Bharat NCAP
Earlier, both models had already secured the distinction of being the highest-rated SUVs tested under the GNCAP safety assessments. In the latest development, as per India's new and autonomous safety performance evaluation protocol, the flagship Tata SUVs have now received five-star ratings, solidifying their position as the inaugural vehicles to undergo testing by the BNCAP authority.

Both the Harrier and Safari demonstrated impressive results in the adult occupant protection (AOP) category, securing 30.08 out of 32 points. Additionally, for child occupant protection (COP), they achieved a commendable score of 44.54 out of a maximum of 49 points, contributing to their overall 5-star rating. Notably, the SUVs excelled in the side movable deformable barrier test, showcasing sturdy performance.
Speaking on the results, Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd said, 'Bharat-NCAP is a significant step forward as it provides customers with a credible, objective score to evaluate the safety aspects of various vehicles. The Harrier and Safari facelifts maintain engine consistency with their predecessors, featuring the reliable 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine that generates a powerful 168 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. This robust engine is paired seamlessly with either a responsive 6-speed manual gearbox or the convenience of a 6-speed automatic transmission.
