Tata Harrier & Safari To Get Lane-Keep Assist?
Not long ago, Tata added ADAS safety features on the pre-facelift Harrier & Safari. Tata's efforts on the safety front in its cars are commendable. However, due to the hydraulic power steering on the old models, Tata couldn't introduce more features. Now, the latest facelifted models get EPS which means there is a possibility for further safety features. One of such features is the lane-keep assist function which Tata has plans for. In fact, Tata is currently testing the lane-keep assist function and tuning it as per the new models. While Tata claims no date or timeline for the introduction of it, the possibility of more autonomous safety features to be added soon has increased.
On the other hand, the new models have been tested by the GNCAP agency for various crashes. Both models achieved a stupendous rating of 5 stars in these tests. Not only this, but, Tata Harrier & Safari facelifts got a score of 33.04 out of 34 in adult safety. Additionally, the child safety score is also top-notch at 45 out of 49. With the new models, Tata has revamped the design as well as introduced new features like a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, etc. Tata has already received a large amount of bookings due to which the waiting period on both models is plunging over 8 weeks.
Verdict
Introduction of autonomous safety features like lane-keep assist will only make road travel safer for passengers. Tata might not introduce this function very soon but eventually it'll come to these models. Also, Tata says that the old models will also be updated with this function via a software update.
