Tata Motors released a teaser image of their upcoming electric SUV. The company has set April 6th for the official launch.
Tata Motors is all set to launch a brand new electric SUV on April 6th. There is no confirmation as of yet if it is going to be an entirely new model or an extension from the current range of line-up. There have been rumors in the past that suggest Tata Motors might launch a longer-range version of the Nexon EV, but going by the long LED strip DRL design on the bonnet, it doesnt exactly corroborate the front fascia of the Nexon EV.
As far as the Nexon EV, it comes powered by a 30.2 kWh battery attached to a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle that is good for 125 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. The current Nexon EV has an ARAI-certified range of 312 km, and the EV can charge up to 80% within an hour using a DC charger. However, with a regular home charger, it takes up to 8.30hours to charge from 10% to 90%.
The Nexon EV has single-handedly helped establish Tata Motors at the helm of the private electric vehicle segment in India. Tata has already sold 13,500 units of the Nexon EV in its two-year span. Last month in February, the company registered over 2,250 units of EVs sales in India, which gives them a whopping 96% market share.
