With CNG cars gaining popularity due to rising fuel prices. Here is our article on Tata Nexon CNG vs Maruti Brezza CNG to help you decide on the right CNG car.
Dimensions
Model | Tata Nexon CNG | Maruti Brezza CNG |
Length | 3993 mm | 3995 mm |
Width | 1811 mm | 1790 mm |
Height | 1606 mm | 1640 mm |
Wheelbase | 2498 mm | 2500 mm |
Both the vehicles are quite similar in terms of the dimensions. While the Brezza is due for an update, the dimensions are expected to be similar to the outgoing model. Boot space for Brezza stands at 328 litres (non-CNG variants) and 350 litres for the Nexon (non-CNG variants). These figures are expected to see a reduction due to the inclusion of a CNG tank.
Features
Bucking the trend of providing CNG only in bare-bones variants of vehicles, Tata introduced the Tiago and Tigor in feature-loaded trims. In response, Maruti too did the same earlier this year with the Celerio CNG. The same can also be expected for the Nexon and Brezza too.
On the safety front, both vehicles are well equipped in terms of features such as ESP, dual front airbags, ISOFIX for child seats and EBD. The upcoming CNG models are expected to be similarly equipped on the safety front too. Additional safety for the CNG tanks is expected on both cars as well.
Engines
Model | Tata Nexon CNG | Maruti Brezza CNG |
Displacement | 1.2 Revotron Turbo | 1.5 K15B |
Power | 94 BHP (approximate) | 87 BHP |
Torque | 145 Nm (approximate) | 121 Nm |
Gearbox | 6 speed Manual | 5 speed Manual |
The upcoming Maruti Brezza CNG is expected to borrow the engine used on the Ertiga CNG so power and torque figures are expected to be in the same range as the MPV.
The upcoming Nexon CNG is however expected to take a slightly different approach with the integration of a CNG system in a turbocharged engine. If it happens, it will be a first for the Indian market. The turbo petrol even in its CNG form is expected to produce more power and torque than the naturally aspirated engine of the Brezza.
Pricing of Nexon CNG vs Brezza CNG
The Nexon is currently priced from Rs 7.55 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the Petrol-powered variants. Depending on the variant, the premium for the CNG-equipped Nexon is expected to be 95,000 Rupees to 1 lakh rupees.
The Brezza currently starts at Rs Rs 7.85 lakhs (ex-showroom). However, with the new model just around the corner along with the CNG introduction, prices for the CNG-equipped Brezza shall see a significant increase from the current prices.
Both vehicles have been proven performers in the market. While the Brezza is expected to retain its conventional styling cues in the facelift, the Nexon CNG is expected to continue with the rounded-off design without major changes.
