The Tata Tigor EV is currently the most affordable electric car in the country and offers a comfortable and affordable package to those looking for an easy to drive and cheap to run family car. Having said this, how good is the Tigor EV in real life and what sort of range can you expect on a single charge. To find it out, we did an elaborate Tata Tigor EV real-life range test where we drove the car for 200 to find an accurate answer. Read on to find all the details.
The range test started in Haridwar where we charged the car up to 95% before starting our journey towards Delhi. While the initial plan was to extract as many kilometres as possible, a booster charge was given to the car after completing 100km. More on that later. We did encounter heavy traffic on the first leg of the journey and average speeds were less than 45kmph. We did manage to cover over 3-4kms per 1% of the charge that we lost, hence getting an extremely impressive range. Quick calculations did reveal that it will not be very difficult to achieve a realistic range of close to 300kms on a single charge with a light foot.

Heavy traffic on the roads meant we had to change our initial plan and it was decided that we will charge the car after covering 100 km to be on the safer end as we were still far away from Delhi. The car was then charged to 93% while we had a quick food break and resumed our journey back towards Delhi. The next 100 kms came up fast as we were pushing the Tigor EV hard to cover the distance rapidly. With a heavy foot, the car returned a realistic range of around 200 km, i.e. 2 km per 1% charge.
In all, I was extremely satisfied with the overall results of our real-life Tata Tigor EV range test and the car too was great. In all, be it the ease of driving inside the city or performance on the highway, the Tigor EV will not leave you disappointed in any sense. The charging infrastructure too is getting better and electric vehicles are now becoming a lot more practical than before.
