Design Language and Bodywork
The new leaked images showcase the upcoming Thar in the vibrant red paint scheme. The overall silhouette of the SUV remains the same including the off-road credentials and flared wheel arches. Also, there are new circle-shaped headlamps and a new grille. On the rear side, the 5-door version gets the same Thar's signature lamps and robust spare wheel. It seems that the brand refrained from making some revolutionary changes to the 5-door Thar.
Interiors and Tech
As mentioned above, the 5-door version of Thar is a more practical SUV because of the space it offers inside the cabin. The inconvenience of entering in the second row from the front side and having no boot space is not there anymore. The 5-door Thar can easily adjust 3 passengers at the back and the boot space can also be increased by folding the rear seats. The SUV offers premium interiors with dual-tone upholstery options and features like rear AC vents, an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control and most importantly an ample amount of space.
There's also a fully digital instrument cluster and a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new infotainment system also supports Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity for seamless connectivity with Android and iOS devices.
Engine and Power
As far as the power is concerned, the new 5-door Thar derives the powertrain from its 3-door sibling. It features the same 2.0-litre petrol or 2.2-litre diesel engine. The company may have re-tuned these powertrains to perform better on the new Thar. The petrol variant will generate 150 hp and 300 nm while the diesel version will make 129 hp of power and 300 Nm of torque.

Mahindra is expected to launch the upcoming Thar with a starting price of Rs. 15 lakh, going up to 20 lakh. The Mahindra Thar is already an established product and it needs no introduction.
