Two battery pack options
Customers will get to choose between two battery pack options on the e Vitara; a 49kWh unit and a 61kWh unit. While the smaller battery variant will primarily be front-wheel drive, the 61kWh battery variant will receive the option of front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive.
The 49kWh battery variant comes with a single electric motor placed on the front axle, producing 142bhp and 189Nm of torque, which is a little less when compared to the Tata Curvv.ev 45. However, the 61kWh battery variant without all-wheel drive comes with 171.6bhp, while torque remains the same as on the 49kWh battery variant.
All-wheel drive capabilities
Suzuki has developed a new 'Allgrip-e' four-wheel drive system, which consists of two independent e-axles on both ends. Additionally, it also comes with a 'Trail' mode which functions similarly to a limited slip differential.
The all-wheel drive 61kWh battery variant comes with an electric motor placed on each axle, producing a combined output of 181bhp and 300Nm of torque.
Dimensions
The e Vitara measures 4275mm long, is 1800mm wide, and it is 1635mm tall. This makes it marginally shorter than the Tata Curvv.ev, but the heights of both cars are similar. Interestingly, the e Vitara also gets a 2700mm wheelbase, which is longer than that of the Curvv.ev (2560mm). We also expect the Hyundai Creta EV to feature similar dimensions, and for a detailed comparison between the e Vitara and the Curvv.ev, check out the link below.

Built on the Heartect-e platform
The e Vitara is built on an all-new Heartect-e platform, which has been developed jointly with Toyota. This is an all-new skateboard platform, on which more EVs can be expected in the future, which also includes a Toyota-derivative of the e Vitara, which will make its debut soon enough.
The e Vitara will be produced in Maruti Suzuki's plant in Gujarat, and production will begin in early 2025.
19-inch wheels on the all-wheel drive variant
The all-wheel drive variant of the e Vitara will come with 19-inch wheels as standard. While we are yet to check out the car in flesh, this should give it a more beefed-up stance and a tougher, imposing look compared to its rivals.
For reference, the Tata Curvv.ev comes with 17-inch and 18-wheels as standard, while the MG ZS EV comes with 17-inch wheels. The Creta EV is also expected to feature 16-inch wheels as standard.

Verdict
With the e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki is set to make its debut in the electric vehicle segment, and it seems to be well-prepared. However, it remains to be seen whether the ownership experience of the e Vitara will be just as stress-free as Maruti Suzuki's regular combustion-powered cars or not.
