The launch date of the upcoming 2021 Hyundai Elantra is still far ahead but that does not take away its charm. And here in this article, we will tell you five things that change with the new all-new Elantra.
New Exterior Design
At the front, the cascading grille has now grown in size and how neatly the LED Headlights merges with it thus giving it a sharper look. The overall profile gets a lowered stance and the coupe-like roofline gives the sedan a sporty feel. Please note, it will come in four-door only.
Moving towards the rear profile, the LED light bar connects both ends of the T-shaped taillights. The rear profile follows a chiselled design with the wing-type rear bumper and an all-black diffuser at the rear. A chrome strip runs across the window beltline giving a premium touch to the sporty sedan.
An All-New Platform
Low profile and low centre of gravity are the two main characteristics of the 3rd generation platform. The ideology is to provide better driving dynamics, lightweight platform, reduced weight of the cars for increased fuel efficiency and among others.
The platform also allows more cabin space. This happened because of the increased dimensions. It measures 56 mm longer, 20 mm wider and gets a 20 mm of more wheelbase when compared with the Elantra on sales in India. The height gets decreased by 51 mm.
More Features
The 2021 Hyundai Elantra is an excellent sedan when it comes to the features. The flat bottom four-spoke steering wheel is now inspired by the all-new Creta. It also gets a new dashboard and HVAC design and an aircraft like gear-lever. The multi-function steering wheel hosts features like voice control, volume control, track change and more.
The sedan gets twin 10.25-inch touchscreen units, one for the driver and other for the infotainment system. The latter will come with connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Hyundai will also bring in the BlueLink technology which lets the user control several features via a smartphone.
Other features also include ventilated seats, ambient lighting and for a better sound, Hyundai equips the sedan with an eight-speaker Bose music system.
Updated Engine Options
Hyundai will bring the all-new Elantra with the same 2.0L petrol engine. Apart from the inclusion of a CVT gearbox, the petrol unit will remain like before. The sedan might also get a powerful 1.4L turbo petrol engine which churns out 140 bhp on tap with a maximum torque of 242 Nm. If the demand for the diesel comes in then Hyundai will bring in the 1.5L diesel as seen in the Creta, but possibly in a higher state of tune.

Globally, there are talks of a petrol hybrid engine. The 1.6L turbo petrol unit will be paired with a 32kW electric motor. The combined output will stick to 139 bhp with 264 Nm of torque and the engine will be mated to a 6-speed DSG unit.
Improved Safety
This upcoming Elantra will host basic safety features like ABS (Antilock Braking System, EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Control), multiple airbags and among others. Also, it might come with forward Collison avoidance assist, driver attention warning system, lane following assist, high beam assist too.
The main highlight is the top characteristics from the K3 platform which adds to the safety of the sedan. They come with cabin frame preservation, absorption rate maximization and stable vehicle posture at the time of the collision.
