Upcoming Benelli Tornado 402R sports motorcycle has recently been patented by the company. The new sports bike will be based on the 302R design & styling.
It's not been a long time since Benelli motors introduce its Tornado sports bike brand globally. The new range includes the likes of big engine sports motorcycles. These are based on 500cc & 650cc engines. Now, the upcoming Benelli Tornado 402R patent images have surfaced over the internet hinting at a completely new motorcycle.

On one hand, the parent company of Benelli i.e. the Qianjiang Motors from China has introduced the 400RR to its fleet. On the other hand, Benelli is working on its new Tornado range of motorcycles. The Tornado brand is aimed to compete with the Japanese bikes present in the mid-weight to high engine capacity segment. This includes the addition of bikes ranging from 550cc parallel-twin to 650cc inline-four-cylinder. The 402R is supposed to be another addition above the Benelli 302R sports motorcycle.
As the leaked patent images showcase to us, the design more or less looks like a mature version of the 302R. The front embeds the use of a vertical projector headlight fitted inside a beautiful fascia with stretched-out LED DRLs. The windscreen is ample in size to look at, while the ORVM design also goes with the flow of the front. USD forks will be used for additional structural rigidity as well, as per the leaked images.

The overall design is beautiful as well as looks mature enough to give it a big bike feel as well. The main talking point remains the use of the newly developed 400cc motor. This engine has recently been introduced in the Benelli lineup and it is similar to the Kawasaki Ninja 400 powerplant. The 400cc, parallel-twin motor will comprehend a total power output of 49 hp and 38 Nm of torque as well. Not to be surprised, the gearbox will hopefully be the same 6-speed unit as seen over the GS400RR by the QJ Group in China.
While it is expected to become another member of Benelli's Tornado lineup; we expect that it will debut globally by the next year. Anticipated to be fitted with all the bells and whistles, the upcoming Benelli 402R will embrace the ingredients to become a good rival in the mid-weight sports bike segment. This segment in India already includes the likes of - the 2022 KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 400, etc.
