Upcoming Honda Elevate SUV To Get ADAS Only In Top Variant: Details

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Honda Elevate SUV launch on September 4th
  • ADAS limited to the top-end ZX variant
  • Rivals Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos

Honda Cars India has plans to launch the Honda Elevate SUV in the Indian market on September 4th. Prospective buyers can already secure their units through pre-launch bookings at a token amount of Rs. 21,000. The Elevate model will be available in four main variants: SV, V, VX, and ZX. While ADAS is one of the most hyped talking points among buyers, there is a catch.

Keep in mind that the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features in the Elevate will exclusively be reserved for the top-end ZX variant. Let's look at what it means for the potential buyers.

Honda Elevate SUV: ADAS Limited To The Highest Trim

While this move contrasts with the City model, where ADAS features are accessible in its top three trims, there is a plausible reason for it. This strategic decision seems to be geared towards maintaining competitive pricing for the lower- and mid-range versions of the Elevate.

The camera-based ADAS suit features encompassing a range of functionalities. These include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, collision avoidance system, and automatic high beam assist. While it sits in contest with the likes of the recently launched 2023 Kia Seltos facelift, it marks the entry of the Japanese giant into the segment.

More Features

Coming to the features, this is a pretty brimmed-up vehicle. Since we stated that, let's back it up with info. The Elevate comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. The interior features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, steering-mounted controls, foldable second-row seats (60:40 split), and 12V power outlets for front and rear passengers.

The safety package includes a camera-based sensing ADAS suite with collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, road departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beam assist. Additionally, it offers 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, an immobilizer with an anti-theft alarm, ABS, EBD, and brake assist.

Powertrain And Expected Price

The new Honda Elevate comes with a 1.5-liter DOHC, i-Vtec petrol engine. This engine produces 119 bhp of power and 145 Nm. Available engine options with the Elevate are a 6-speed MT & a CVT gearbox. There is no strong hybrid engine on offer. While many hoped that it would make its way sometime in the future as it did with the Honda City, it has been denied by the brand.

As for fuel economy, the Elevate 1.5 petrol-MT has a claimed economy of 15.31kpl, whereas, with the CVT, it delivers 16.92kpl.

The expected pricing of Elevate will start at around Rs 12 lakh mark. Meanwhile, you can expect the top variant to loom somewhere around 18 lakh rupees.

Verdict

While Honda might be entering the scene a bit after competitors like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos have established themselves firmly, the timing is still opportune. With a reputable brand name and a legacy to back it up, Honda is moving in a positive direction. Moreover, the commencement of deliveries in September is just around the corner. It will be intriguing to observe how they manage to navigate potential extended waiting periods, a challenge often faced in the market. Need more updates like these?
