New Honda SUV Details
As you can make out via the spy shots, the SUV is completely covered. However, its design elements are fairly visible. The front design looks similar to the international HR-V SUV. It gets sleek LED headlights & an upright-set bonnet. The shoulder lines and side profile are also muscular. Additionally, the rear end looks familiar to the newly introduced WR-V overseas. Meanwhile, the test car has some interesting features as well. It is equipped with diamond-cut alloy wheels, rear wash & wipe with defogger. This indicates that it is possibly a top-spec model. Also, the ORVMs get small camera sensors. This indicates a possible 360-parking assist or even Honda's Lane Assist System.
On the interior front, we expect it to get all the bells and whistles. As it will compete with feature-rich rivals like Maruti Grand Vitara & Toyota Hyryder; it'll get a long list of features. We expect that it will get a panoramic sunroof. Additionally, a bigger touchscreen infotainment like the one on the current Honda City is also expected. Leather upholstery & features like rear AC vents shall also make their way on the inside of it.
Under the bonnet, it will get the City's engine lineup. The 1.5-lt petrol engine & strong hybrid engine options shall be used. As the RDE norms are going to come alive soon, there will not be any diesel motors. Additionally, Honda will offer it with a 6-speed manual, CVT, & eCVT transmission options.
Verdict
Honda has been struggling in sales for a long now. The WR-V has already been discontinued in India. In an SUV-crazy nation, it is difficult to survive without an SUV in the portfolio. Hence, this upcoming SUV might change the fortunes of Honda in India. We're expecting it to launch by Diwali this year. The expected price for it will be in the range of Rs 13 - 20 lakh.
