The upcoming Mahindra Scorpio will definitely up its premium quotient, however, itll still lack the finesse of the XUV700, Mahindras most premium offering. What are these differentiating factors?
Camouflaged test modules of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio are becoming a regular sight these days. The numerous spy shots have confirmed that the 2022 Scorpio will be more muscular with bigger grilles at the front, strong body lines, and increased dimensions. The interior will also see its fair share of updates, starting with a new dashboard layout and a sunroof for the first time. Cutting a long story short, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be more premium than the current-generation Scorpio model.
But will it be as premium as Mahindras latest XUV700? The answer is no. Why? Check out the features stated below that is available with the XUV700, but may not come with the upcoming Scorpio.

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)
Aside from German and European vehicles, the Mahindra XUV700 became the first SUV in its segment to come with an Advanced Driver Assistance System. The feature that comes with ADAS includes Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Automated Emergency Braking, and Driver Drowsiness system. Unfortunately, such a premium feature will not be a part of the utilitarian 2022 Scorpio, wherein it might not be that useful.
Panoramic Sunroof
Another key feature of the Mahindra XUV700 is the panoramic sunroof. Camouflaged test modules of the Mahindra Scorpio featured a sunroof, but it was not a panoramic unit. Irrespective of that, the 2022 Scorpio will come in stock with a sunroof for the first time, and that is a big uplift.

All-wheel Drive vs 4X4
The Mahindra XUV700 gets the benefit of an optional all-wheel drivetrain, but that is reserved for the AX7 Diesel variant only that costs Rs. 20,90,552 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The upcoming Mahindra Scorpio on the other hand will come with a 4x4 drivetrain, something more on the engineering lines of the new Mahindra Bolero Neo. Given the former is a bigger SUV than the Bolero Neo, the 4x4 in will be more off-road focused.
Tuned mHawk and mStallion Engine
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be using the same mHawk and mStallion engines, that are available with the XUV700 but in different states of tune. The 2.0-litre petrol engine will produce 150 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, whereas the 2.2-litre diesel model will cost 130 bhp and 360 Nm of torque. In the XUV700, the former produces 197.13 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, whereas the diesel engine produces 152 bhp and 420 Nm of torque.
