Bookings for the Volvo XC40 Recharge will commence from June onwards, meanwhile, deliveries will start from October itself.
Volvo XC 40 Recharge, the company's first fully electric SUV will be launched in October. The launch was supposed to happen last year, but due to the semi-conductor chip crisis, the company had to delay its launch. The XC 40 Recharge is part of Volvo's sustainability initiatives to become carbon neutral by 2040.
The XC40 Recharge is powered by a 78 kWh battery pack, that can be recharged up to 80% charge under 40 mins, and be good for 418 kms of range on a single charge. When it comes to performance, it can do 0-100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 180 kmph.

When launched here in India, the Volvo XC40 Recharge will compete in a segment that includes the likes of the Mercedes Benz EQC, Jaguar I-Pace, and Audi e-tron. Speaking at the occasion of the announcement was Jyoti Malhotra, the Managing Director of Volvo Car India. He emphasized that Volvos first electric car was received well in the international market and that theyre expecting the same to repeat in India as well.
Volvo plans to make all its dealerships in India into green dealerships. This means that it will need to upgrade its dealer workforce and familiarize them with new technology, and the correct response to the exacting requirements of its customers. Volvo plans to convert 80% of its car line-up into electric by 2025, and by 2030, it will only sell electric cars and hybrid cars. Internal combustion engine models will be completely phased out. This is a response to the companys global climate plan to reduce its carbon cycle footprint per car.
