The Japanese Car Manufacturer Honda Motor Company entered the Indian market in the year 1998 with its debut product, Honda City. Honda City has always been a benchmark in its segment owing to multiple reasons. The dawn of the Honda City in India took place in the last decade of the twentieth century and it has been shining exquisitely since the last two decades. Hitherto, India has witnessed four generations and multiple facelifts of the City and the launch of the all-new fifth-generation 2020 Honda City is just around the corner which will be launched really soon. In this article, we tell you the Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Wait For The Upcoming 2020 Honda City.

Just a quick trivia, this all-new fifth-generation Honda City made it's World Premiere in Thailand last year. The India-spec 2020 Honda City will look identical to the Thai-spec model but will be a tad longer, will offer better ground-clearance, will ride on bigger tyres and will get distinctly enhanced mechanicals and interiors too. So, without any further ado, let's dive-in to take a close look at why we should wait for the New Honda City.
1. Revitalized Exteriors
The Honda City has always been a handsome looking car and the fifth-gen City is no different. The 2020 City gets a completely overhauled exterior design and it looks sleeker and captivating with design-cues that bear resemblance to Honda's bigger sedans like the Civic and the Insight. Upfront, it gets Honda's signature chrome-embellished grille with wrapped-around first-in-segment all-LED headlamps, LED DRLs and L-shaped turn indicators. The hood, bumper as well as the fog-lamp assembly has been completely revised and it gets a low-riding stance adding to its sporty appeal. The side-profile looks neat which houses the new 16-inch dual-tone machined-cut alloys and at the rear, it gets new Z-shaped LED wraparound taillamps with a shark-fin antenna.
2. Big on Size, More Space.
The 2020 Honda City is dimensionally bigger than its predecessor. The 2020 City measures 4,549mm in length, 1,748mm in width, and 1,489mm in height. It is 109mm longer, 53mm wider but 6mm shorter than the outgoing model. Although the length of the new City has increased by quite a huge margin, the wheelbase remains the same at 2,600mm. We aren't complaining that because Honda City was already quite spacious but any more leg-room inside the cabin would have been even better. The New City is the longest and the widest sedan in its class. Also, the increase in length and width should free up some more space to better accommodate 3 passengers on the rear seats.

3. Premium Interiors
The New Honda City will set a new benchmark in the mid-size sedan segment in terms of the premium appealing of the cabin. The new City will get dual-tone beige and black finish inside the cabin, unlike the global model which only gets an all-black theme. The interior of the new City will be definitely spruced-up and it will receive better quality materials with top-notch fit and finish. Taking the centre stage will be an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which will be compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The new City will also get rear AC vents and a middle headrest with three-point emergency locking retractor seatbelts for all three rear passengers.
4. Feature-loaded Car with some first-in-segment features
Honda wants to take the legacy of the City altogether to a next-level and to do this they will equip it with some best-in-class features. The new City will be the first car in India to be compatible with Amazon Alexa remote support. The 2020 Honda City will also get a lane-watch camera assist which we have already seen in the Honda Civic and it is a very useful feature. Basically, a wide-angle camera is mounted down below the passenger side ORVM and it shows the blind vision every time you put the indicator stock to the left or press the lane watch camera button.
It will also get Honda's app-based connectivity technology Honda Connect which will have a telematics control unit that can remotely share car status details. Another unique feature is the inclusion of a G-force meter which are only available in supercars like the Nissan GT-R. Other features include automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, engine start/stop button, cruise control, electric sunroof, etc. The new City will also get a host of safety aids which include up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, seat-belt reminders, brake-assist, rear parking sensors with camera, traction control, tyre-pressure warning system, vehicle stability assist with agile handling assist and more.
5. Multiple Powertrain Options with Diesel Automatic
The 2020 Honda City will sport a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC oil-burner under the hood. The former will produce 120 bhp and 145Nm on tap mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The diesel engine, on the other hand, produces 100 bhp and 200 Nm of torque and will come paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT too. This is for the first time ever that Honda will offer an automatic transmission with the diesel City in India. Honda might also introduce a hybrid powertrain with the City in future which will offer a whopping 40kmpl of mileage.
