2025 Tata Altroz- Design Updates

The Tata Altroz has remained somewhat the same in its inception form since it was last launched in 2020, and although it has the distinction of being the only oil burner hatchback on sale, that alone is not enough. Keeping this in mind, Tata is giving it a mid-cycle update where it is gearing up for design tweaks and some feature add-ons to refresh its appeal. The updated model is expected to feature sharper-looking headlamps along with repositioned LED DRLs and a newly designed front bumper for a more aggressive appearance. At the rear, refreshed LED taillamps and a redesigned bumper will give it a more modern touch. A set of newly styled alloy wheels, seen earlier on test mules, will also be part of the exterior updates, enhancing the overall sporty vibe of the car.
Interior And Feature Upgrades

The overall cabin layout of the Altroz is expected to stay largely familiar, though a few subtle updates are on the cards. These may include a new two-spoke steering wheel (like the one seen in the 2025 Tiago and Tigor), refreshed seat upholstery, and revised trim finishes. The standout upgrade will likely be a larger 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, similar to what's offered on the Altroz Racer. Higher variants could also gain ventilated front seats, a sunroof, and a few more feel-good and convenience upgrades.

Engine Details- Unlikely To Be Tweaked

The Tata Altroz is expected to continue offering the same engine choices as before, including a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine making 87bhp and 115Nm, and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel unit producing 88bhp and 200Nm. Gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual, while the petrol variant also gets a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Additionally, the Altroz Racer comes with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 118bhp and 170Nm, paired to a 6-speed manual, along with a CNG variant outputting a lower 76bhp and 97Nm, linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. Tata's innovative dual-cylinder setup will also be retained, optimizing boot space.
The current pricing for the Altroz starts at Rs. 6.65 lakhs, which could see a slight uptick to set-off the increased costs with the updates. Come 21st May, it will continue to wage its tussle against the likes of Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, and others, albeit in an updated form.
Verdict
Tata Altroz has slipped towards the lower end of sales chart and everything that is being adressed in the update, was its achillies heel. Although the last hatchback in diesel USP could not pull in the numbers, it still offers something for everyone be it automatic, manual, CNG, petrol or a diesel. I hope that this revival brings some success to this almost ignored hatch in its class and keeps the options open in the slowly diminishing hathcback space with the rise of equally priced pseudo SUVs.
