Yamaha R3 Old Vs New: Design

Design is what has changed the most in the new version. The new Yamaha R3 adorns a new look which includes LED DRLs, a single projector headlamps which are positioned in the Moto-GP specific air intake. Like the front fairing, the brand has changed the side fairings as well. Apart from this, now you get a sharp and crisp-looking rear end. Overall, the new R3 resembles other bikes in the R family.

Yamaha R3 Old Vs New: Hardware

The new Yamaha R3 gets the same 321cc twin-cylinder engine that makes 42 hp and 29.5 Nm of torque. The ride is complemented by features such as dual-channel ABS. All in all, the new Yamaha R3 retains its simple nature.

Yamaha R3 Old Vs New: Features

The updated Yamaha R3 has some much-needed features that the previous model lacked. The sportbike now gets a slip-assist clutch and a quick-shifter (optional). Because the Yamaha R3 still uses a cable-operated throttle system, the quick-shifter on offer could be only used for the up-shifts.

Talking about the technology, the new Yamaha R3 gets a new LCD screen that supports Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, it gets a USB charger for smartphones and other compatible devices. Though not so heavy on tech, the updated R3 gets worthy add-ons.

Yamaha R3 Old Vs New: Price Details

The current generation R3 available in India, sold in India via the CBU route is priced at Rs. 4.65 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model has not been launched in India yet, but we can expect a similar or slightly higher price tag for the updated model.

Verdict

The updated Yamaha R3 brings significant design improvements, enhanced features like a slip-assist clutch and optional quick-shifter, and modern tech such as Bluetooth connectivity and a USB charger. While the core performance remains unchanged, these additions make it a more appealing package. Expect the price to remain competitive with the current model, offering good value for enthusiasts.
