Yamaha WR 155R Latest Update
Last Updated On 22nd Nov’23: Sharing its engine with the Yamaha R15, the WR155R benefits from cost savings for the company. The off-road bike is equipped with a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 16.5 BHP and 14.3 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. This powertrain configuration aims to deliver a balance of performance suitable for off-road adventures. However, there is still no update about its Indian launch.
Design And Features
The overall design of the WR 155R has been inspired by the WRC bikes and the first bike championship bikes. The sleek design is well enhanced by the minimal body panels and lightweight cradle chassis frame. Along with this, the spoked rims are lightweight, and the flat seat is meant for getting good riding balance on the off-road trails. As the Yamaha WR 155R is an entry-level rally bike, it gets fewer features as compared to its Austrian rivals. The digital instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, and dual-disc brakes are a few of the major features of the bike. Its sleek and light body lets the rider easily navigate this bike anywhere on the off-road trails.
Engine And Specifications
The engine used by Yamaha in the Yamaha WR 155R is a 155cc liquid-cooled engine. This engine has been mated down with the patented VVA tech. The VVA is also seen on the R15 V4 sports bike in India and it is widely appreciated for its efficient yet powerful tuning. Along with this, the Yamaha WR 155R gets adjustable USD front suspensions with dampeners. At the rear wheel, a single monoshock adjustable suspension is offered with dampeners. The engine is powerful and it produces 16 hp of peak power. This power is enough to pull the bike through the off-road trails. It also comes with dual-purpose off-road tyres as standard. This engine performs brilliantly on the off-road conditions due to the lightweight chassis of the WR 155R.
Price And Launch
The expected launch of the Yamaha WR 155R is slated around the festive season in India in 2022. This translates that the Yamaha WR 155R can make its Indian debut sometime around August/September. As the engine and the mechanical components of the Yamaha WR 155R are largely shared with the R15 V4 sports bike, we suspect that the pricing of this off-road rally bike will not go north of Rs 1.6 lakh ex-showroom across India. However, there is still no exact official information from Yamaha India regarding its launch.
