A few months back Yamaha Motor India showcased the BS6-compliant version of its popular sports-tourer Yamaha FZ 25 motorcycle which was asserted to be launched in April this year but due to the outbreak of deadly Coronavirus, the Japanese bike maker has put the launch on hold. Fret not, Yamaha has now officially teased the FZ 25 duo on their social media handles with the tag 'coming soon'. And along with the Yamaha FZ 25 BS6, the bikemaker will also launch a new range-topping version called the FZS 25.

Yamaha FZ 25 BS6 will be powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC, four-stroke engine that delivers 20.8 PS of power at 8,000 RPM and 20.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 RPM. For reference, the power and torque figures of the BS4 FZ 25 stood at 20.9PS and 20Nm, thus Yamaha has done a good job by managing to tune the bikes to produce nearly the same peak output figures as before. The FZS 25 will also borrow the same powerplant with identical figures.
The 2020 Yamaha FZ 25 gets subtle cosmetic updates which include a revised headlamp cluster that gets the bi-functional treatment and continues to be an LED unit. It also features a new negative LCD display for the instrument console, underbelly cowl and a side-stand engine cut-off switch. Additionally, the FZS 25 also gets knuckle guards. The FZ 25 BS6 weighs around a kilogram more than before and the kerb weight is rated at 153 kilograms.

Yamaha is offering some new and fresh colour schemes with the FZ 25 duo. The FZ 25 looks as macho as before and will now be offered in two colour options Metallic Black and Racing Blue. The new FZS 25 will be offered in Dark Cyan, Dark Blue and Metallic White shades and the former two colour options will also get gold-painted alloy wheels.
Yamaha will launch the FZ 25 BS6 and the FZS 25 in the coming weeks as soon as the lockdown gets over. The BS4 Yamaha FZ 25 was priced at Rs. 1.35 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi and we can expect the newer version to ask a slight premium than before. The FZS 25 will be around 3000-4000 rupees dearer than the BS6 FZ 25. The official bookings are yet to open but some Yamaha dealers have started to accept online bookings for a refundable token amount of 5000 rupees.
