2021 Skoda Superb Launched in India; Price Starts at Rs 31.99 Lakhs - What's New?

Though 2020 wasn't a very good year for anyone, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, Skoda Auto India Private Limited had a great 2020. This Czech car manufacturer launched a host of new cars in the Indian market in the year 2020 ranging from the new Rapid TSI to the Octavia vRS245 and also the fully-imported Karoq mid-size SUV. That's not all, the company even launched the new Superb Facelift in the country just last year and now within just a year of its launch, this flagship saloon from Skoda has got some subtle updates and some features have also been added. The new 2021 Skoda Superb has been launched in India today and its price now starts at Rs. 31.99 lakhs, Ex-showroom pan-India. Let's have a look at it.

The Virtual Cockpit is now standard across the range

Before we begin with the new feature add-ons or changes, let's have a look at the comparison of the new prices of the 2021 Skoda Superb vs the launch price of the 2020 Skoda Superb Facelift:

So, as you can see in the above table, the new 2021 Skoda Superb is sold in two variants. They are Sportline and Laurin & Klement. With the addition of some new features, the prices of this flagship saloon from Skoda have gone up by upto 2 lakh rupees. The Superb's Sportline variant is now priced at Rs. 31.99 lakhs while the Laurin & Klement variant is priced at Rs. 34.99 lakhs. All prices stick to Ex-showroom pan-India. Now, while the Sportline variant of the new Skoda Superb looks more sporty and gets sporty touches, the Laurin & Klement (L&K) variant is more opulence-oriented. If we talk about the changes, so the new 2021 Skoda Superb gets new adaptive LED headlamps with daytime-running LEDs, illuminated eyelashes, 'coming / leaving home' function as well as LED turn indicators. These cool lighting elements lend the refreshed Skoda Superb range a dynamic appearance.

On the inside, the new 2021 Skoda Superb gets a large 20.32 cm Amundsen infotainment system with an inbuilt navigation feature, an updated user interface and it now supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity features too. The new Skoda Superb gets a very rich cabin filled with sumptuousness. The Sportline trim of the Superb gets an all-black interior with red inserts while the Laurin & Klement version gets a plusher dual-tone black and beige finished interior. The new Skoda Superb gets a virtual Cockpit and a wireless charging facility as standard across the range while the top-spec Laurin & Klement variant gets a new 360-degree parking camera too. Another major change inside the cabin of the new 2021 Superb is its steering wheel. The new Superb's Laurin & Klement variant now sports the revolutionary new two-spoke steering wheel design.

However, the Skoda Superb Sportline still dons the three-spoke flat-bottom supersport multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters. Some other features of this premium sedan include ventilated seats, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting and best-in-class safety features with upto eight airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, reverse parking sensors with camera and many more. The mechanicals of the car remains the same as before. The Superb gets a single powertrain option in the BS6 era. The saloon is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with direct injection system. This motor churns out 190 PS of maximum power at 4200-6000 RPM and 320 Nm of peak torque at 1450-4200 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) to offer good drivability and lightning-fast gear shifts. It also gets Tiptronic manual gear changing functionality.
