The new Camry is now probably the longest-surviving premium sedan in its segment. With a fresh new design language, updated interiors and a longer set of features, the Camry should prove to be a decent alternative to the German premium sedans which sit in a higher segment and also carry a higher price tag. Moreover, Toyota’s reliability is something that should not be taken lightly in a segment like this.

  • The Camry Hybrid delivers an outstanding mileage of 25.49 kmpl, which is better than that of several mid-size diesel cars
  • All new Camry is flooded with high tech features - 3-zone climate control, drive modes, sunroof, powered & ventilated driver and passenger seats, boss mode and more
  • A camera-based ADAS system is available, which the automaker calls Toyota Safety Sense (TSS).
  • Rear passengers also get a dedicated touchscreen setup to control AC settings, media volume, and seat recline function, all integrated into the rear armrest.
  • Available in 6 metallic colours.
  • A large 12.3-inch infotainment screen has been added, featuring wireless connectivity & 360-degree parking camera
  • For an amphitheater-like experience, Toyota has added 9 JBL premium speakers.
  • Top-class safety with 9 airbags.

• What could have been better

  • The new Camry is Rs 1.83 lakh more expensive than the outgoing model.
  • The on-road price of this sedan will be around 52 to 53 lakh, making it very expensive to own.
  • There is no panoramic sunroof in such an expensive vehicle.
  • Only 5 ADAS features are there, which is way less considering its price.
  • There is no option for a DCT gearbox, which could have unlocked the true potential of its 230 PS of power.
  • Available in only a single variant.
  • Toyota should have provided wireless charging for rear passengers.

The new car bears a mix of sharp, futuristic elements mixed with an elegant design language 9

• The front resembles the global-spec Prius, with a sleek headlight and nose and a larger grille placed lower down. The front bumper also features aerodynamic air ducts and you can choose from six different paint schemes. 

• The profile bears resemblance to the previous-gen car, but it still looks fresh and modern, similar to some of Toyota’s global-spec full-size sedans. It also features 18-inch alloy wheels as standard. 

• The rear of the new Camry gets C-shaped sleek tail lamps, which align with the modern design treatment of the rest of the car.

• The new Camry comes with a redesigned dashboard, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, along with a 12.3-inch infotainment touch screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. 

• The rear armrest comes with touch controls for audio, seat reclining, rear sunshades, and climate control. The rear-door sunshades are manually-operated, and it also gets a retractable shade for the moonroof.  

• The interiors of the new Camry are swathed in leather upholstery, in a dual-tone shade of yellow and brown.

• The new Camry comes with three-zone climate control, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, on-board navigation, a head-up display unit, rain-sensing wipers, wireless phone charging pad, memory functions for the ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, and an electrochromic IRVM among other things. 

• Additionally, both the front seats receive ventilation, along with 10-step power adjustability and lumbar support. To round things off, the driver seat comes with memory function as standard. 

• The new Camry also comes with an ADAS suite, consisting of features such as lane keep assist, lane departure alert, automatic high beam, pre-collision system, and adaptive cruise control. 

• Some other safety features include a 360-degree camera, hill-start assist, 9 airbags, uphill/downhill assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat mounts and more.

• The new Camry retains its hybrid powertrain; a 2.5-litre nat-asp petrol mill, paired to two electric motors on the front axle, along with an eCVT. Together, this system produces 227bhp.

• There are three driving modes on offer; eco, normal, and sport. In terms of dimensions, the new Camry gets a 2825mm, which is only marginally shorter than that of the Skoda Superb.
