The all-new model appears sharper and more premium, and that's because the front end now boasts a large hammer head grille that matches the body color. Also, the LED headlights are 99% similar in design to those of the Toyota Prius (international model). The C-shaped LED DRLs, along with another set of DRLs placed at the fog lamp area, give it a distinctive look.

From the rear, the Camry looks like an extension of the outgoing model, with sleeker LED tail lights. However, the rear silver skid plates adds another touch of elegance. Toyota designers didn't alter the side profile much but gave it an all-new machined finish alloy wheel design of R18.

Toyota Camry Interior

Toyota Camry

This brown upholstery interior is very different from the outgoing model, spacious like your living room, but packed with all the new technology you would expect in a 50 lakh-plus car. The main center of attraction is the 12.3-inch infotainment display with all the wireless connectivity features, 360-parking camera, and much more. To the left of it is a large trim piece in a piano black finish that stretches to the passenger-side AC vent. Below this huge screen lies the control for the dual-zone automatic AC, which is thankfully operated by buttons.

Then there are central AC vents finished in chrome, and down below lies the wireless charger, plus two Type-C and USB sockets. After that, Toyota provides two large cup holders and more space to keep your things. Behind the CVT gearlever, there are drive mode buttons and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. The steering wheel is now three-spoke, with media controls and ADAS activation switches.

The driver's display is now fully digital, 8 Inches in size, and the graphics are of high definition. As we move to the rear section, where most of the owners will sit, there is very little to talk about. I mean, yes, this is a spacious area, and even tall passengers can stretch and travel for long hours, but apart from ac controls attached in the armrest, there is nothing else. Which makes this interior a 3 zone automatic climate control. In the center, there are AC vents with two USB ports. Lastly, the moon roof with tilt/slide function is there.

Toyota Camry Powertrain

The 2.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine collaborates with a hybrid electric motor to produce 230 Ps (combined) and 221 Nm of torque, and sends it to the front wheels via a eCVT transmission. Engine alone produces 187 PS and 251.6 V battery makes 136 Ps. There are three ride modes available: Sport, Eco and Normal. Lastly, Toyota claims its fuel-efficiency to be 25.49 kmpl.

Features In Toyota Camry:

  • ADAS Level 2
  • 9 speakers from JBL
  • Toyota I-Connect
  • 3-zone climate control
  • Moon roof
  • 3 ride modes
  • 12.3 Inch Infotainment Dispaly

Verdict

Thankfully, Toyota is keeping the spirit of sedans alive in India, although this is the only sedan they sell here. There are still people, especially auto enthusiasts and executives, who prefer sedans over SUVs due to their driveability and comfort. The Camry sells in limited numbers but is quite popular in metropolitan areas, showing that sedans are not completely dead. Cheers to Toyota and all other automakers for doing things not just for profit.
