Mahindra Scorpio N is a massively successful product. So much so that it garnered 1 lakh bookings in just 30 minutes when its official bookings commenced. In fact, this is the first time that they launched the Scorpio Petrol and that too has received a good output from prospective buyers. Now, Mahindra shares that 40% of the Scorpio N buyers chose the automatic variant.
The Scorpio is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission as an option. The 6-speed AT is available in 2.0L petrol and 2.2L mHawk diesel. Also, the carmaker provides the 6-speed AT with the 4WD variants too.
Mechanically, Scorpio N is powered by two engine options - 2.0L Stallion petrol and 2.2L mHawk diesel. The petrol motor is the same as found in Thar and XUV700 but with a different output. It generates 200 bhp of power with 370 Nm of peak torque.
Unlike the petrol motor that is available with the same power and torque variant across all trims, the diesel does not follow the same league. The base Z2 trim belts out a peak power and torque of 129 bhp and 300 Nm, respectively. The recently launched Scorpio Classic also produces the same power and torque figures.
The mid-spec and higher variants of the diesel motor churns out 172 bhp of power with a healthy torque of 370 Nm. This peak torque for the diesel automatic sticks to 400 Nm. The 4WD option is limited to the diesel engine only.
Feature-wise, the new Scorpio N gets modern equipment such as an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a multi-function steering wheel, LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity features and more
