2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Details
Speaking of the test bike spotted, it hosted a couple of interesting changes. For the naked eye, the test bike looks nothing different from the current model. However, the reporting source has claimed to have interacted with the test rider. The claims are that the new 2022 model is going to get a redesigned air intake system for the engine.
So, does this mean that the new bike will have more power? Well, not exactly. The Apache's engine is already a class-leading unit in terms of power & torque figures. It makes a peak power output of 17 bhp & 14.73 Nm of torque in the current model. The possibility of getting a revised air intake system means enhanced power or driveability. The current engine is a reliable unit but it lacks the low-end punch. However, the new rivals like the Bajaj Pulsar N160 possess good low-end response.
Hence, the revised engine and gear ratios will make the engine more responsive on the lower end. Additionally, the test bike also featured a prototype exhaust can. However, we suspect that the production variant will have more or less the same design as seen on the current model.
We also hope that TVS will add more features to this updated model. No, we are not complaining that it has fewer features. The Apache series is already well known for its long list of features. The updated bike is expected to bring more tech.
Launch, Price, & Rivals
The test bike featured the same design and engine. This means the mildly updated MY22 bike will get to the production line quite soon. We anticipate that this new RTR 160 will get launched in the coming months. A minimal price hike is expected due to the revised engine and maybe some more features. Its main rivals are - Hero Xtreme 160R & Honda Unicorn.
