Yamaha two-wheeler is a renowned Japanese manufacturer that is known for making some of the tech-rich & reliable products globally. One such product is the Cygnus scooter which is recently updated in the Chinese market. The 2022 Yamaha Cygnus GT Deluxe Edition is the recent addition to the lineup with some commendable changes in the scooter.

Yamaha Cygnus GT Deluxe Edition Design & Features
The Cygnus scooter is based on the same platform as that of the Yamaha RayZR 125 & Fascino 125 scooters. Where the latter of the two scooters are sold in India, the Cygnus brand is still far from the market. Although, back in 2016 Yamaha used the Cygnus brand name during the launch of the RayZR. Sadly, it was just the name that was used and the Cygnus did not make it to India back then.
Speaking of the design, the Deluxe edition is a differently designed variant as compared to the regular Cygnus scooter. The changes are noticed in the new frontal design that is reworked to provide good riding comfort. The rider's triangle is now revamped, whereas the new wide and flat seat provides more space for the rider as well as the pillion.
Other main changes include the new twin-LED DRLs and LED headlight, blacked-out footboard and panels, matt-black alloy wheels, GT decals, and even a new LCD digital instrument panel as well. Yamaha is also using Bluetooth connectivity in the new Deluxe Edition of the Cygnus.
The taillight is also an LED unit that complements the unique upright rear-end design of the Cygnus scooter. Yamaha has also redesigned the storage space under the seat and in the front panel for enhanced rider convenience.
Engine & Specifications
As it is based on the omnipresent 125cc setup of the RayZR and Fascino, the engine & specs are largely the same. The 125cc, air-cooled engine is peppy enough for the city. It produces peak power of 8 hp & 9.7 Nm of peak torque. While over the paper these figures do not seem thrilling, the lightweight of Cygnus makes it fun to ride scooter.
Thanks to the increased power-to-weight ratio; the engine produces healthy low-end torque for easy city rides. Buyers also get the dual-channel ABS, and front disc brake for enhanced safety over the road.

Yamaha Cygnus GT India Launch, Price & Rivals
No matter how easy it seems, the launch of such niche products with an already present lineup always remains difficult. Yamaha is selling the Cygnus in the Asian continent where the sales potential for a multiple scooter lineup is high. No, we do not underestimate India but there seems no point for Yamaha to launch the Cygnus with already present two scooters in the same segment.
Nonetheless, if Yamaha ever launches the Cygnus in India, it will be priced above the Rs 1 lakh mark. The rivals will remain inclusive of the Hero Maestro Edge 125, Suzuki Access 125, TVS NTORQ 125, & Honda Activa 125.
