2023 Bajaj Qute Details
If we recall the old Qute quadricycle, it was a nimble and tiny attempt by Bajaj to change the Indian market. Launched back in 2018, Qute was priced at only Rs 2.48 lakh (ex-showroom). However, with its monocoque chassis and fixed roof, it could not lure many buyers. One of its prime reason was that it was only allowed to be registered for commercial purposes. Hence, Bajaj's attempt went waster. But, it looks like Bajaj has not wasted any further time and made the necessary changes to it. Hence, a new Qute is on its way that is more 'car' than ever.
Speaking of the changes, it now gets conventional windows as well as an AC. Meanwhile, the old Qute had these sliding windows & no air circulation. Furthermore, the new Qute will get a revised engine. Its 216.6cc single-cylinder engine can now make 12.8 bhp of peak power. This figure is 2 bhp more than the older model. Additionally, the new 4-seater Qute is now heavier by up to 17 kg but it can still reach a top speed of 70 kmph. Bajaj has fitted it with a 5-speed sequential transmission unlike the 'H-type' conventional gearbox as seen in manual cars.
Going by the NCAT-type approval documents, the new Qute will only be available with a petrol engine. If speak of it, the older Qute was also available in a CNG avatar. However, it was aimed to be sold in the commercial market hence Bajaj has fitted a CNG kit on it. The new Qute, meanwhile, is going to be a new-gen 'Nano' for Indians with a strict budget. Bajaj is promoting it as a street slick quadricycle that makes commuting hassle-free.
Verdict
Bajaj Qute is a brave attempt by the company to change Indian commuting. However, its radical design appeal is still a big question mark. Will it be loved by Indians when available for personal use? That, only time will tell. Meanwhile, we're anticipating that the new Qute will be priced somewhere around Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom). Its launch is suspected to take place in the coming weeks.
