Triumph Speed 400 & Scrambler 400X Details

Triumph Speed 400

The Triumph Speed 400 showcases its identity as a proper roadster motorcycle. It features a round headlamp unit, USD front forks, a single seat, and a single aluminum-finished exhaust canister. Other notable elements include bar-end mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels. The motorcycle also incorporates a semi-digital instrument cluster, switchable traction control, LED lighting, and an adjustable mono-shock at the rear for added convenience and comfort. The Speed 400 is offered in three attractive color options: Carnival Red, Caspian Blue, and Phantom Black.

If we talk about the Scrambler 400X, it looks similar to the Speed 400 in terms of its chassis and design but has undergone considerable changes to accommodate challenging off-road riding and trail exploring. As a result, a number of significant modifications have been made. Some of these features are a taller handlebar, a dual-can exhaust, split seats, off-road footpegs, a larger 19-inch front alloy wheel, block-pattern tyres, side scuff plates, knuckle guards, and a headlight guard.

Triumph Speed 400 & Scrambler 400X Engine

Bajaj-Triumph has jointly engineered a brand-new 398.15cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that offers impressive performance. According to Triumph, this engine delivers excellent power in the mid-range. It produces a maximum power of 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and achieves a peak torque of 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This power is transmitted through a 6-speed transmission, which features a slipper-assist clutch for smoother gear shifts.

Verdict: The recently released Triumph Speed 400 is expected to pose a strong competition to the KTM 390 series and the newly introduced Harley Davidson X440. The pricing has been strategically determined to enhance its market position.
