2023 Hero Xpulse 400 Variants
The Xpulse brand has emerged as a huge success for Hero. Now, with a bigger engine, the growing ADV segment is being targeted by the brand. We have already reported to you that Hero will possibly launch the upcoming XPulse in two variants. We have already witnessed this with the current Xpulse as it is sold in 2 variants i.e. the Xpulse 200 4V & Xpulse 200T.
Meanwhile, the spied bikes were seen wearing different specs and features. This confirms the probability of two variants even more. One of the variants had a bigger 21-inch front tyre and more upright set ergonomics. This is probably going to be the more hardcore variant of it. Contrary to it, the second bike along with had a smaller and fat front tyre with riding ergonomics set a bit front forward. This variant will be more tuned for highway riding and soft trails rather than hardcore off-roading.
There are multiple reports over the internet suggesting to us that the new bike will have loads of the latest tech. As it will compete with the likes of the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 & the KTM Adventure 390; we suspect the features will be competitive. Tech like the cornering ABS, traction control and multiple riding modes, and digital instrument panel with connected features are expected to be offered as standard.
421cc Engine & Specifications
Meanwhile, it was not clear that whether which capacity engine the new bike shall be using. Now, reports have emerged on the internet claiming that the new bike will have a brand new 421cc engine. It looks like a single-cylinder engine as the test bikes seem to have a long-stroke engine. This means good low and mid-range torque might be worked upon.
This engine is liquid-cooled as seen in the earlier spy photos. The power range will hover in the vicinity of 40 bhp. As the rivals are also offering power within this range, we expect that the multiple riding modes shall also be offered to utilize its power more efficiently.

Xtreme 400S Details
As we speak of the Xpulse 400, a supersport test mule was also spied along with it. This is the same bike that was spied some time back with the Xpulse 400 test mules. Going by the looks, it seems more like a new Xtreme 400S. However, the dynamics and design it is completely different and targets the sports bikes like the KTM RC 390 & the TVS Apache RR 310.
As it is being tested along, the engine and frame might be shared on both of the designs. Apparantely, Hero has no competitor in the 350+cc segment in India. With the Xtreme 400 & Xpulse 400; the target is to attack the fewer rivals of these segments. The Xtreme will feature a re-tuned engine for aggressive power delivery. Additionally, the Xtreme 400 is expected to feature more sophisticated technology like cornering ABS & adjustable traction control system as well.
