2023 Honda City Details
Speaking of the test mule, we presented to you the first test car loaded on a truck a few weeks back. Now, that test car seems to have started its road testing phase. However, the test mule seen in the photos is completely camouflaged. But, look closely and one can easily spot the design changes. The front bumper is all-new as it resembles the global model now. Additionally, the LED headlights have also been tweaked and so is the front grille. Meanwhile, the overall dimensions and side design of the car are still the same. Honda has not fiddled with the current design and dimensions much.
The rear end of the upcoming City also gets new LED taillights. The boot lid design and the rear bumper are also redesigned. However, the spied car has emission testing equipment attached to it. This can possibly mean that Honda is going to continue offering the diesel powertrain in the City. The 1.5-Lt diesel engine on it has been a huge success due to its frugal nature. Hence, Honda might keep offering it to remain more relevant in the dying sedan market. Additionally, the 1.5-Lt, the i-Vtec petrol engine will also remain unchanged as far as we can suspect.
Interiors of the new City are also expected to go under minor changes. These changes may include the use of new features like HUD, new instrument console, etc. However, we do not expect any major or radical changes on the inside of the new City.
Verdict
Honda's new City is under work currently. It is suspected to debut by the end of 2023 in India. However, its rivals have also begun testing their updated models. One such example is the 2023 Hyundai Verna which has been spied on multiple times in India on tests. Hence, the competition in the segment shall remain consistent next year as well. Meanwhile, the Skoda Slavia & Volkswagen Virtus will remain largely unchanged next year.
