2023 Hyundai Ai3 Exter SUV - Details
The spied-on test mule looks similar to the old test cars. Hyundai is going to position the Ai3 under Venue and hence its size is small. However, its design and dimensions do refer to the Venue. What's interesting to note is that it is feature-packed. Hyundai is known to enrich its cars with features; Ai3 is no different. The test car is seen draped in a white paint shade. It also gets a single-pane sunroof and dual-tone alloy wheels. Additional visible bits include a projector headlight with LED DRLs & functional roof rails.
Hyundai sells a similar compact SUV called Casper globally. But, the Exter will be longer than the Casper. Casper is 2.3 mt in length, which does not make sense for India. Hence, the Ai3 will be bigger than it so that it can rival Tata Punch easily. In terms of features, we're expecting it to get a touchscreen, wireless charging, automatic climate control, etc. Additionally, it'll get ventilated seats and a digital instrument console; as expected.
Hyundai will use the engine lineup from Venue itself on the Ai3. This means it'll get the 1.2-Lt NA petrol and the 1.0-Lt turbo-petrol options. However, the diesel mill will not be offered as Hyundai is parting ways with diesel engines. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual, iMT automatic, & DCT automatic.
Verdict
As the test mules are running the city streets globally, it is safe to assume that the car is undergoing its final testing. Hence, the launch or debut of Exter is not far. Hyundai might debut it by the end of 2023 globally as well as in India. We're expecting its pricing in the range of Tata Punch. Hence, Rs 6-9 lakh is what Hyundai might price it in India. Its other rivals include - Citroen C3 & Maruti Ignis.
