2023 Mahindra Thar Latest Price Hike Details
The government of India has implemented the new RDE norms from 1 April. According to these norms, all of the vehicles sold should produce fewer emissions in the real world. Hence, manufacturers have been updating their products continuously. Mahindra has also updated its popular SUV Thar with new OBD sensors that control real-world emissions. However, the price hike is a bit steep for new customers.
The LX Hard Top MT RWD variant is now costly by Rs 1.05 lakh. Following it is the AX (O) Hard Top Diesel MT RWD which has seen a hike of Rs 55,000. Additionally, the rest of the variants have undergone a standard price hike of Rs 28,200. However, Mahindra has not hiked the prices of the base model of Thar. It still starts from Rs 13.49 lakh ex-showroom. However, the top variant i.e. the LX Hard Top AT now costs Rs 16.77 lakh (ex-showroom).
Verdict
All of these price revisions will affect its sales as it is soon going to get a new rival. Maruti Jimny is a long-awaited rival of it and it'll possibly launch next month. However, online rumors also suggest that Mahindra is developing a new base variant of Thar that is inbound to launch in the coming months. Mahindra Thar 5-Door is also in the works that might debut later this year.
