2023 Toyota Innova Crysta was spied testing for the first time in India. The new facelifted upcoming MPV from Toyota will hose down the much-needed changes.
We brought you the story where the 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta MPV was spied testing for the first time globally in Thailand. Well, here are the first spy shots of the new facelifted MPV from Toyota being tested on the Indian roads for the first time. The new upcoming model will feature some major changes which the Innova Crysta has been lagging for some time now.
Spied being tested over the roads of Bangalore, as the production plant of Toyota is situated in Bidadi, Karnataka, the first-ever glimpse of the upcoming Innova Crysta has left wondering the automotive world with what could be the possible changes it'll bring once it is launched globally. Mind you, Toyota Innova has been one of the most reliable and sorted MPVs globally as the present users still cling to its quality over the years.
Although, the spy shots are limited and one can only witness the rear profile and the side quarter panels; the changes are still clearly visible in the design. The heavily camouflaged test car has showcased the same design outline as we saw over the test mule spotted in Thailand sometime back. Whilst the major design language remains the same, the quarter glass area is now larger and even the quarter panel at the rear seems to be using a new sheet metal design. Apart from that, the rear profile embeds a large rear windshield, new spoiler design, new boot lid construction as well. Even the alloy wheel design is all new and resembles the same design as seen in the Thailand test car. Similarly, the front profile of the new car will feature a redesigned fascia with new LED headlights, a new front bumper, and new body panels to divulge the design subtly.
On the specification front, the new Toyota Innova Crysta is expected to use the same engine configurations as seen over the current generation MPV. This means a 2.7-Lt petrol engine making a peak power of 166 bhp and a peak torque of 245 Nm, and a 2.4-Lt turbo-diesel engine making a peak power of 150 bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm will find their way on the new facelifted car as well. Transmission duties will also be compiled via the use of a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as well.

There are also rumours over the internet that the new MPV from Toyota will feature a mild-hybrid technology which shall help the engines to become more fuel-efficient and more environmentally friendly as well. The upcoming strict emission norms in India, as well as globally, can also be the reason behind this electrification of the engine. Adding to these rumours are the words that Toyota might also drop the previous chassis design and a new TNGA-B platform shall find its way on the new facelifted car. This means, that if the new platform is chosen, the new generation Innova Crysta shall lose the rear-wheel-drive system and will be equipped with a front-wheel-drive format.
The expected launch time remains undisclosed as remains the pricing. This is no wild guess that the new generation Toyota Innova Crysta will be more expensive than the outgoing model because of the addition of newer tech and features.
