2024 Ford Endeavour Comeback: When and How?
Recently, Kay Hart, president of Ford Motor Company; visited the Chennai-based factory of Ford India. Not just a hint that Ford is working to start this factory again, but, this recent visit also included a meeting with Tamil Nadu government officials. As per an online report published by Autocar India, the company is seriously considering reopening production. Hence, the visit was to assess the assets involved and the industrial help that can be gained from the government.
Now it is a no-hidden fact that the Endeavour prototypes have been imported by Ford. With the recent spotting of Everest import units along with the Ranger pickup trucks, Ford India is planning for the comeback for sure. The report also emphasizes that the Endeavour will be assembled locally but the Mustan Mach-E will be imported and then sold.
Another interesting point to notice is that Ford officials are aiming towards affordable EVs. The success of mid-size EVs in India might be the reason behind this EV interest by Ford. Moreover, Ford will export the new EVs from India to the global markets. Additionally, Ford has also dedicated a team of engineers who are developing a new platform for affordable EVs. India might witness the launch of EV cars based on this platform in the future.
Last but not least, the fact that Ford has homologated an unnamed mid-size SUV design can also be not ignored. The homologated design enticed debates across India that this could be the new-gen Ecoposrt SUV. However, there are no further details known about this model or the timeframe of its debut in India. If it is launched, this SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
Verdict
Ford Motor Company's Indian comeback is still a bit far away. The amount of resource planning and finanical structure required to re-operate the factory in Chennai; will take time. However, Ford fans can rejoice because the Endeavour brand is coming back yet again.
